    Synopsis:
AN INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS...

Several boats have been destroyed by an inexplicable predator, and puzzling biological samples have been left behind. An attack in front of many witnesses draws media, military, accredited scientists, and bilious cryptozoologist Carl Curtis, who believes his hypothesis of an ancient species confirmed. Lieutenant Sadie Krszczynski has had an uphill battle convincing the Coast Guard that her talents and competence outweigh the liability of her color blindness. But suddenly her vision deficiencies make her uniquely qualified to see an animal perfectly adapted for ocean camouflage. Introspective ex-homicide detective Trey Johnson has come to the islands to escape his past. Now in business for himself, he lands a pair of missing-persons cases that lead him to the mystery on the water and put him back in the limelight - for better or worse. Suddenly the sleepy islands are a hive of grandstanders, trophy hunters, and opportunistic drug traffickers, and Sadie and Trey find their lives increasingly entangled as the hysteria explodes.

  • Montessori Children's House of Valley Forge holds Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Valley Forge Historic Park
    Posted on: 2010-05-06
Wayne, PA- On May 4, 2010, Tuesday Montessori Children's House of Valley Forge(MCHVF) celebrated its move back to Wayne, PA with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included the Kindergarten class, Congressman Jim Gerlach, Superintendent, Mike Caldwell and several esteemed guests.
'They say that it takes a village to raise a child. It has taken a city of dedicated, incredibly generous parents and alumni parents to raise this beautiful school. Thank you so much to all of you for your generosity, your commitment, support and hard work. Twelve years ago when we began this journey to find a new home for our school, we never imagined we would find such a wonderful setting to build our school. We feel so incredibly fortunate to be here and to have entered into this partnership with the Park Service.” Sentiments from Gill Gutteridge, Administrator.
MCHVF is proud to be the first Montessori school located in a U.S. National Park and takes full advantage of their unique location. The dedication marks the completion of a multi-million renovation and expansion of the former Ivy Hollow Farm (David Walker Farmstead) into a parent-owned school for children, ages 2 through Kindergarten. Located on 3.5 acres, the school features six classrooms and a large multi-purpose room for gym and art, and offers a Parent and Toddler Program and afterschool care for working families.
Founded in 1963, the mission of Montessori Children’s House of Valley Forge is to educate the whole child by nurturing and fostering each child’s academic, social, creative, and emotional development. The children, staff and parents form a strong, diverse community, following Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy, while nurturing her belief that each generation of children has the opportunity to remake the world it inherits. The teachers of the Montessori Children’s House of Valley Forge encourage the children to respect themselves, their peers, their community, and their environment, while striving to cultivate their innate love of learning, as they prepare for a life of purpose, integrity and academic accomplishment.

    FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES

    Baby items needed ASAP:
5/4/09 We are in urgent need of donations for a newborn baby boy who was born last week (the end of April). At least for now, he is going to be living with his grandmother who T&E Care has been helping for the past few months. The grandmother was laid off from a good administrative position a few months ago due to cut-backs and has been troubled by health and family issues since then. She really wants to get her life back together but keeps experiencing setbacks.
For the baby, the family needs an infant car seat, portable crib, clothing, diapers/wipes/formula (or gift cards to buy them) along with any other basic infant supplies. The baby weighs about 7 pounds.
Please email lkpratt@verizon.net if you are able to contribute. Items can be dropped off at 1821 Black Rock Lane, Paoli. Feel free to email or call (610-407-0847) with any questions.

    Clothes:
4/30/09 A current kindergarten boy needs some summer clothes. He has outgrown everything from last year and the family can't afford to get new things. He needs boys size 7 or medium - shirts, pants, shorts. Let us know if you can help. MANY THANKS!

    Appliances/Furniture:
4/30/09 A family will be moving in early June. They will need twin beds and dressers (tall, not wide). If you have either of these, please let us know.

    Window Airconditioners
5/7/09 - we haven't yet had requests - but we know we'll get them - if you have any window air conditioners that you no longer need (but still work fine!), please let us know. There are many families in our community without AC and these window units are critical for them once summer arrives. Thanks!

  • H1N1 (Swine) Flu Information
    Posted on: 2009-05-12
What You Can Do to Stay Healthy.

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze for at least 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.

If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Here are some informative links regarding the flu, it's current status and how to protect against it.
